Air-conditioners and Building Design AREMA recognises that domestic air-conditioners are often used to fix the problems created by poor building design or orientation. Often substantial air-conditioning costs incurred over the life of a building to keep it comfortable for the occupants could be saved by a small initial expenditure on the energy efficiency. Our members don't wish see air-conditioners bigger than they need to be or operated for longer than they need to be. We are actively involved in making sure that building design uses airconditioning and air movement products efficiently. AREMA liaises with ASBEC (Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council) and is represented on the HVAC committee of ABCB (Australian Building Control Board).
