ABC's 4 Corners program of 25 June 2007 highlighted that many of the no-name airconditioners sold in supermarkets and hardware stores do not meet Australia's minimum energy performance standards. 

AREMA has been advocating to government for some time that world leading energy performance standards need to be accompanied by world leading testing and enforcement of those standards. Relevant extract of 4 Corners transcript
