AREMA co-sponsored the establishment of a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Testing Laboratory at the University of New South Wales (Sydney). This facility is now being used to test air conditioning units for compliance with mandatory Minimum Energy Performance Specifications (MEPS).
AREMA is a strong supporter of the phase-out of Ozone Depleting Substances (CFC Refrigerants) and is working closely with the Australian Fluorocarbon Council (AFC) and Refrigeration Reclaim Australia (RRA) to achieve this objective, under the terms of the Montreal Protocol.
AREMA is a foundation member of the Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Building Services Exhibition (ARBS). This major
HVAC related event, which is held every two (2) years, alternating between Sydney and Melbourne, has grown into the largest exhibition of its type in the Southern Hemisphere.
AREMA is represented on the Board of the
Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC), which is a Government funded body formed to implement National Licensing and Registration
of tradespersons and refrigerant gas resellers within the industry.
AREMA members have provided significant input over the years to the drafting of Industry Standards and
other regulation, in consultation with Standards Australia and relevant Government Departments.
