About Us

What we do

• AREMA was formed in 1968 to promote the interest of the industry and its members

• AREMA is responsible for formulating and co-ordinating industry response to regulatory issues both at Federal and State Government level.

• AREMA is committed to meeting all environmental standards and challenges

• AREMA supports the development of an industry strategy for Quality Assurance and Best Practice. This includes actively promoting the verification of all performance statements

How do we do it

• A number of AREMA members serve on standards committees and management committees of industry bodies on a voluntary basis. They provide invaluable technical assistance to these committees and they ensure that the industry's views are incorporated into the decisions made by the committees.

• AREMA maintains a permanent secretariat in Canberra which maintains close links with the government agencies responsible for regulating our industry. We have advance warning of initiatives likely to impact our industry and we can use that extra time to make sure the industry is not disadvantaged

• AREMA has regular meetings to bring members up to date with developments reported by committee members and the secretariat. There's also an e-mail list to keep members up to date with fast breaking development.
